I have an acquaintance on social media who is, how shall we say, suspicious of all things Christian.
In a comment I quoted to this person something from the Bible...
but I didn't put the book/chapter/verse to it in the comment.
This person clicked they liked the quote...
maybe it offered some encouragement for them?
Maybe sometimes we don't have to always tell people where something we say comes from?
Maybe sometimes when talking with someone who isn't all that receptive to things from the Bible, it's wise to quote truth without giving the reference?
