"If you cling to your life,
you will lose it;
but if you give it up for me,
you will find it."
Jesus speaking in Matthew 10:39
I distinctly remember my reaction in late 2007 when I realized that God wanted this verse to be one of the verses I held on to for the upcoming year of 2008.
I thought to myself, "Oh, crap!"
(I was SO holy back then... 😂 - as if I am now!)
All I saw was the losing part.
(Like I said, SO holy... 😉)
But at the beginning of 2008, I started to see that this verse wasn't about losing but about gaining - gaining the life I could never have imagined.
All that year, God whispered these words to me countless times...
"don't cling to your life..."
iow, "let go, follow Me, & see the life I'll give you."
This verse has haunted me ever since - almost 18 years.
God has built my life into things I never imagined for it.
These past 18 years, these 6 words are what I've said the most to Him...
"You want me to do WHAT?!"
(have I mentioned I have very holy responses? 😂)
So I try to not cling to what I think my life is supposed to look like.
It hasn't been all sunshine & roses, especially the last 12.5 years.
It has been a life like nothing I expected.
So, I've said all that to say this...
Don't cling to your life & what you think it should be like.
Let go of your life, & trust God to lead you into a life that He dreamed for you...
a life the likes of which you never could have imagined.
