Psalm 106:19 Until the time come to fulfill His word, the Lord tested Joseph's character.

So, does this mean, as we wait on God to move, He will reveal to us the substance of ourselves, the real us when nobody's around, so that we won't have illusions about ourselves, or think ourselves so "holy" or "righteous" or "such a great catch for God" that we are not useful?

Is that what He's saying here?

Is the testing to reveal ourselves to ourselves, or what?

Or is it to toughen us up, to add grit & vigor to our resolve?

What does He mean here?
