Mark 2

28 One of the teachers of religious law was standing there listening to the debate.

He realized that Jesus had answered well, so he asked,

     "Of all the commandments, which is the most important?"


29 Jesus replied,

     "The most important commandment is this: 'Listen, O Israel! The LORD our God is the one and only LORD.

30 And you must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength.'
31 The second is equally important:

        'Love your neighbor as yourself.'

No other commandment is greater than these."



There you have it - the whole ball of wax - the whole enchilada - all she wrote...

Jesus says here the 2 most important things to remember is...

Love God.

Love people.

Jesus says that all there is to it.

4 words...

Love God, love people.

I have a friend who had those 4 words tattoed to his forearms in 3 inch high letters - Love God on the left arm, Love others on the right arm.


We make this whole thing about following Jesus so complicated.

Here, Jesus Himself boils it down for us, in 4 words.


Love God, love people.


I wonder what our lives would look like,

     I wonder what our world would look like,

     & I wonder what the perception of the rest of the world would be about Christians

     if we lived out these 4 words completely in our lives.
