Luke 17
7 "When a servant comes in from plowing or taking care of sheep, does his master say,
'Come in and eat with me'?
8 No,
he says, 'Prepare my meal,
put on your apron,
and serve me while I eat.
Then you can eat later.'
9 And does the master thank the servant for doing what he was told to do?
Of course not.
10 In the same way, when you obey me you should say,
'We are unworthy servants who have simply done our duty.'"
hmmmmmmm...
Being a servant isn't about success.
It's not about being appreciated.
It's not about being glorified or looked up to.
It's not a function of the American Dream.
It's not about being right.
It doesn't result in a glamorous life.
Being a servant is about serving.
It means sometimes serving without knowing why, or how long, or even seeing any results.
It means being & doing in obscurity.
It means not being understood, or supported.
It definitely is NOT glamorous.
It often is difficult.
It might get us killed.
Being a servant means 1 thing - serving.
I've learned all those things through experience in the last 8 years.
And anyone who says, "All I want to be is a servant of the Lord," has never been one.
