2 passages

Matthew 22:34 But when the Pharisees heard that he had silenced the Sadducees with his reply, they met together to question him again.

35 One of them, an expert in religious law, tried to trap him with this question:

36 "Teacher, which is the most important commandment in the law of Moses?"

  37 Jesus replied,

"'You must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.'

38 This is the first and greatest commandment.

39 A second is equally important:

'Love your neighbor as yourself.'

40 The entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments."

Iow, Jesus basically is saying here that the whole deal can be expressed in 4 words...

Love God,love others.

hmmmmmmmmmmm...

*********

1 Thessalonians 4:1 Finally, dear brothers and sisters, we urge you in the name of the Lord Jesus to live in a way that pleases God, as we have taught you.

You live this way already, and we encourage you to do so even more.

2 For you remember what we taught you by the authority of the Lord Jesus.

3 God's will is for you to be holy, so stay away from all sexual sin.

4 Then each of you will control his own body and live in holiness and honor—5 not in lustful passion like the pagans who do not know God and his ways.

6 Never harm or cheat a Christian brother in this matter by violating his wife,

for the Lord avenges all such sins, as we have solemnly warned you before.

7 God has called us to live holy lives, not impure lives.

8 Therefore, anyone who refuses to live by these rules is not disobeying human teaching but is rejecting God,

who gives his Holy Spirit to you.

I find it disturbing that many of the people I know who believe themselves fairly hooked up with Jesus are also having intercourse w/ their boyfriends or girlfriends - like, & not married to them.

And they don't seem overly concerned or convicted about it.

I believe this passage would indicate that God does not thing that kind of activity is in sync with His thinking.

I see far too many young Christians having sex - iow, creating a bond, a connectedness, a oneness, that isn't meant to happen except in a committed relationship of marriage.

And I see these same young Christians going through the pain, & the jading,& the tearing apart of that oneness every time they walk away from their sexual partners.

It ain't good.

Y'all stop it.

I've lived too long, & see far too often, what having sex outside of marriage does to people.

It ain't good.

And eventually, the farm principle will kick in...

We reap what we sow.

Just sayin'...
