go

This is Jesus speaking here to His disciples just before He went back to heaven...

 Matthew 28

18
Jesus came and told his disciples,

"I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth.

19
 Therefore, go

and make disciples of all the nations,

baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

20 Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you.

And be sure of this:

     I am with you always,

even to the end of the age."

The operative word in this passage for me has always been "go".

Be proactive.

Find the people God wants you to connect with & tell them about Jesus.

I see so many churches with "come & see" written on the signs outside their buildings.

People ain't gonna come & see.

We've gotta go & tell, then they might  come & see the crowd we gather with on Sundays - might.

We must realize that we do no have "home court advantage" anymore. We haven't for decades.

People don't have a moral center.

More & more people have few, if any, Christian reference points in their lives because they want nothing to do with Christianity & Christians.

And we all know that in the last couple of decades especially, Christianity has been suffering from some pretty bad press.

iow, our street cred is pretty low.

We're in the boat as the disciples back then - we both face a world that is hostile to what we are compelled to share with them.

We live in a world where "anything goes" & most of the time does.

The world we go to is exceptionally wicked.

And yet Jesus said "go".

And how should we go?

To one person, one at a time.

And the ripple effect of that going, just like when the disciples did, will have ripple effects for eternity.
