Here's some good stuff I read this morning from the 21st chapter of Proverbs...
Those who shut their ears to the cries of the poor will be ignored in their own time of need. (vs 13)
These
days it seems much of the current thinking of sections of our
demographic is taken from the writings of Ayn Rand & her socially
acceptable selfishness. This has engendered an increasingly
unsympathetic & judgemental attitude attitude toward the poor.
The
writer of Proverbs didn't quantify "the poor" when he wrote it so it
would fit into our current thinking. He simply said what he said.
Whoever pursues godliness & unfailing love will find life, godliness, & honor. (vs 21)
How many people do we know who are really trying to be godly & loving? (How many of us are really trying?!)
If you keep your mouth shut, you will stay out of trouble. (vs 23)
Well.. there you have it...
;-)
Human plans, no matter how wise or well advised, cannot stand against the Lord. (vs 30)
Iow, I guess we don't need to feel so ever lovin' omnipotent.
The horses are prepared for battle, but the victory belongs to the Lord. (vs 31)
You get what that means, don't ya?
