beautiful

For almost 30 years I was a music minister in the United Methodist Church.

Yeah, 30 years...

Very few people in my life right now know me as that person ;-)

There was an song written for adult choir using Psalm 8 by the composers, Tom Fettke & Linda Lee Johnson

I believe I led choirs in every church I served in singing this song.

Yes, it's old school.

Yes, it's hardly appropriate for the 2nd half of the 2nd decade of the 21st century.

But it IS a beautiful song & I have very, very fond memories of leading it with the wonderful & crazy choirs I've led.

I've provided 2 links to hear it.

The first one is a group of 16 men - I've never led this song with just men singing it, but it's just so gorgeous.

The second link is with men and women singing it, but PLEASE don't watch the pictures provided - they are so hokey, tacky, & just awful, & they will distract you from the beauty of the music.

The song starts at verse 3.

Just copy & paste the link into your browser...

Here's the men singing it...

And here's the mixed choir singing it - PLEASE don't watch the video- it's awful - close your eyes & listen to the music...

Psalm 8

1
O LORD, our Lord, your majestic name fills the earth!

Your glory is higher than the heavens.

2
You have taught children and infants

  to tell of your strength,*

silencing your enemies

  and all who oppose you.

3
When I look at the night sky and see the work of your fingers—

the moon and the stars you set in place—

4
what are mere mortals that you should think about them,

human beings that you should care for them?*

5
Yet you made them only a little lower than God*

and crowned them* with glory and honor.

6
You gave them charge of everything you made,

putting all things under their authority—

7
 the flocks and the herds

  and all the wild animals,

8
the birds in the sky, the fish in the sea,

and everything that swims the ocean currents.

9 O LORD, our Lord, your majestic name fills the earth!
