don't worry about anything

Don't worry about anything;

(yeah... I know... we could stop right there)

Don't worry about anything;

     instead,

     pray about everything.

(everything? like, in every thing?)

Tell God what you need,

     & thank Him for all He has done.

(I've always kinda gotten the feeling the being thankful is important.)

If you do this,

     you will experience God peace

     which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand.

(that sentence is one of those "if you do this, this WILL happen" kind of thing - it leaves no "if", "and", or "but" lingering in the background.)

His peace will guard your hearts & minds

     as you live for Christ Jesus.

(another statement leaving no "if", "and", or "but".)

So...

Don't worry about anything;

     instead,

     pray about everything.

Tell God what you need,

     & thank Him for all He has done.

If you do this,

     you will experience God peace

     which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand.

His peace will guard your hearts & minds
     as you live for Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:6, 7

Now, ya know, Paul wrote this, to the Christ followers in Philippi.

Paul ought to know the truth of these 2 verses.

I mean, he'd hardly been livin' the American dream since that road to Damascus thing.

If anyone could have some validity & intergrity behind words like "don't worry about anything", well, Paul ought to have it.

His was not a Club Med existence.

If anyone had enough life experience to put some punch behind these 2 verses, it was Paul.

So, what would our lives be like if we did just exactly what Paul said to do, & probably just exactly what Paul actually did in His day to day life.

I mean, what do we think held Paul together as he faced the awful treatment he dealt with through his years as a Christ follower & missionary?

So, let me ask it again, what would our lives be like if we did this?

Let's try it today...

Every time we have a worrying thought, let's talk to God about it.

This should happen frequently for me - yeah, I worry a lot - and yes,I know it's a trust issue.

But let's try it for today...

     and let me know how it went for you?
