I am praying not only for these disciples but also for all who will ever believe in Me because of their testimony.
My prayer for all of them is that they will be one,
just as You & I are one, Father;
that just as You are in Me & I am in You,
so they will be in Us,
& the world will believe You sent Me.
John 17:20-21
This is Jesus praying in the garden of Gethsemane a few hours before He was killed.
He was praying not just for His disciples,
He was praying for us, too.
He was praying we would be a connected people, to each other, & to them.
I would say we've kinda fallen short on the being connected to each other.
And I'm not really sure how well we've all done on the part about being connected to God.
But it is incredible to know that Jesus was praying for us that night.
********
For we are not our own masters when we live or die.
While we live, we live to please the Lord.
And when we die, we go to be with the Lord.
So in life & in death, we belong to the Lord.
Christ died & rose again for this very purpose
so that He might be Lord of those who are alive & of those who are dead.
Romans 14:7-9
So, in light of these words of Paul to the Christians in Rome, what does this have to say about things like end of life issues?
And don't be deceived...
end of life issues will continue to be issues...
we need to think about what we believe about them,
because there's good reason to believe that will be one of the next big issues we are going to have to struggle with.
Just a thought...
