34 Then, calling the crowd to join his disciples, (Jesus) said,
"If any of you wants to be my follower,
you must give up your selfish ambition,
take up your cross,
and follow me.
35 If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it.
But if you give up your life for my sake and for the sake of the Good News, you will save it.
36 And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul?
37 Is anything worth more than your soul?
I guess
that must pretty much narrows the possibilities as to what being a
follower of Jesus is really all about...

Corinthians 8
5
According to some people, there may be so-called gods & many
lords, both in heaven & here on earth.
6 But
we know that there is only one God, the Father,
who
created everything, and we live for him.
And
there is only one Lord, Jesus Christ,
through
whom God made everything and through whom we have been given life.
Well,
I guess that this second passage undercuts these 2 ways of
thinking...
“all
religions lead to God”
&
“no
matter what we call our god, they are all the same person”
