Chapter 11 in the gospel of John s basically about the death of Lazarus, Jesus going to see about him, & Jesus raising Lazarus from the dead.
(The last 10 verses or so are about the religious leaders of the time plotting Jesus' death. It's interesting that they thought they could kill someone who could raise people from the dead, isn't it?)
Early on in the narrative, when Jesus' disciples tell him about Lazarus' sickness & impending death, Jesus says a curious thing.
John 11:4b Lazarus's sickness will not end in death. No, it is for the glory of God.
I had a thought, or maybe more of a question, when I read that.
Does God sometimes allow our lives to move into dire situations just so He can flex & show us & everyone that in the final analysis He's the One who makes things happen, thus bringing glory to Himself?
