1 Chronicles 28:20 Be strong & courageous & do the work. Don't be afraid or discouraged by the size of the task, for the Lord God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you or forsake you.
This is King David talking to his son, Solomon, who would become king when David died. David was telling Solomon to be strong in the face of the daunting task that would be Solomon's of building the temple to God in Jerusalem.
What does this say to us?
Be strong - iow, be decisive, step forward & take the bull by the horns & make things happen
be courageous - many will nay say what we are about; we need to focus on what we're about & move on it
do the work - God's not gonna hand us something; we've got to put our "sweat equity" into something so we'll own it
don't be afraid or discouraged of the size of the work - all of us are scared when something is BIG tha God wants us to be or do. But how do we feel if God asks us to be & do something small or medium sized when we think we should be being or doing BIG things for Him? Yeah... chew on that one for a while...
for the Lord God, my God, is with you - the God of the universes is with us - the One who created the whole of creation, who is timeless, who is, has been, & will always be is with us in what He's told us to be & do
He will not fail you or forsake you - iow, He's gonna come through for us, & He ain't gonna get distracted & leave us high & dry, or get tired of watching over us & go on to someone more productive & leave us in the dust
Now, will someone please remind me of this on a daily basis?!
