Psalm 55:22 Give your burdens to the Lord, & He will take care of you. He will not permit the godly to slip & fall.
Here's what my Life Application Bible has to say about this verse...
"God wants us to give our burdens to Him, but often we continue to bear them ourselves even when we say we are trusting in Him. Trust the same strength that sustains you to carry your cares also."
Anybody guilty of this besides me?
Is it a trust issue?
Or are we simply believers in the adage, "God helps those who help themselves"? (which incidentally is NOT in the Bible ;-)
I think it's a trust thing.
Part of it may be that we don't want to relinquish control because if we trust Him to tote our load(s) then this implies we are comfortable with the outcome & ramifications of allowing Him to be in control as Sustainer?
(Did that last sentence make any sense?)
Or do we simply believe that the God of the universes doesn't have that intimate a knowledge of our individual lives, or doesn't want to be bothered with the minutiae of our lives?
Is it a control issue for us? Or is it a surrender issue? Or are surrender issues really trust issues?
I'm think I'm over-thinking this ;-)
