Many who are first now will be last then;
& those who are last now will be first then. Matthew 20:16
Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be your servant,
& whoever wants to be first must become your slave.
For even I, the Son of Man, came here not to be served but to serve others,
& to give my life as a ransom for many. Matthew 20:26b-28
What
Jesus is doing here is on one hand telling us that who & what we
think is important to our earthly, finite thinking ain't all that
important.
And on the other hand, He's telling us that God's yardstick for measuring greatness is a whole lot different than ours.
God doesn't have an earthly success orientation - it completely heavenly, infinite, & big picture oriented.
Maybe we should be that way more?
