rest

Matthew 11

28 Then Jesus said,

"Come to me,

all of you who are weary

and carry heavy burdens,

and I will give you rest.

29 Take my yoke upon you.

Let me teach you,

because I am humble

and gentle at heart,

and you will find rest for your souls.

30 For my yoke is easy to bear,

and the burden I give you is light."

Would any of us consider ourselves to be “weary”?

Dictionary.com defines “weary” as “physically or mentally exhausted by hard work, exertion, strain, or fatigue:”

But if we are “weary”, we don't need me or anyone else to define it for us.

We know if we are.

How many of us “carry heavy burdens”?

Most of us who do know if we do.

Most of us who “carry heavy burdens” don't talk about it much, nor do people usually know what kind of load we're carrying...

...and even fewer care that we do.

If any of us fit into either of these catagories, Jesus has something specific to say to us...

Come

to

Me.

The God of the universes whose existence completely outstrips our ability to comprehend, says 3 words to us, who are fare less than a nanospeck in the cosmos...

Come

to

Me.

Whatever each of us could imagine that would mean, let's all rest in the fact that it is infinitely more than could ever come up with.

Many of us don't or can't believe that.

That disbelief doesn't change at all what He offers.

We might think, “it can't be what I'm longing for.”

Well, we'll never know unless we make a move to to what He asks.

And consider this...

...what if by coming to Him,

connecting with Him,

& handing over to Him what makes us weary,

or whatever burdens we carry,

we actually get the lifting of that load,

& that succor we seek?

What have we got to lose?

Why not let ourselves come to Him?
