if..., then.

Matthew 16

24 Then Jesus said to his disciples, 

"If any of you wants to be my follower, 

you must turn from your selfish ways, 

take up your cross, 

and follow me.

25 If you try to hang on to your life, 

you will lose it. 

But if you give up your life for my sake, 

you will save it.

26 And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world 

but lose your own soul? 

Is anything worth more than your soul?



Jesus makes it pretty clear.

If we want to be a follower of His, then here's what we have to be & do.

And that flies in the face of "conventional wisdom".

It feels like there's a lot of people in places of influence & power these days who are very busy "gaining the whole world" & blithely unaware or uncaring that their souls are going down the tube.

Unfortunately, we only look at what we potentially may be losing in a life turned over to the control of the Lord.

We don't look at what we gain if we do.

We have a life in tune with the God of the universes who is holy, omnipotent, eternal, unimaginably infinitely the embodiment of love.
