Matthew 23:11 The greatest among you must be a servant. 12 But those who exalt themselves will be humbled, & those who humble themselves will be exalted.
Here's what my Life Application Bible says about these two verses...
"Jesus challenged society's norms. To Him, greatness comes from serving - giving yourself to help God & others.
"Service keeps us aware of others' needs, & it stops us from focusing only on ourselves.
"Jesus came as a servant.
"What kind of greatness do you seek?"
How many of us seek true servanthood - a lifestyle & a thought process of others orientation?
How many of us have bought the concept that the American Dream of success is synonymous with being a Christ follower?
How many of us have forgotten that being a Christ follower means sacrifice & struggle?
