thirsty

Whoever is thirsty may come to me and drink.

If anyone believes in me, rivers of living water will flow out from their heart.

John 7:37b-38a

Wouldn't we all say we live in a world that is thirsting for something?

And couldn't we all say that most are looking all the wrong places for a way to quench that thirst?

Jesus lived in a very arid climate there in Roman Palestine.

Everyone who heard Him say that would have immediately understood what real thirst is as well as what a generous & fulling life it would be if there was a free flow of water in their lives.

They also would have identified with the basic truth that everyone who wants to survive in life in the desert climate of Palestine needed a stable, pure, safe, & free flowing source of water.

Jesus basically is saying here that if there is a longing for something more, something that meets the most basic of needs in our lives, He,Jesus, is the source from which those needs can be met.

Think about that, & what our lives could be like, if we would look to Him as the source of all our basic needs, no matter what they are.
