Here's what Paul told the Corinthian church to be about as they waited for Paul to come see them...
1 Corinthians 16:13 Be on guard. Stand firm in the faith. Be courageous. Be strong.14 And do everything with love.
Be on guard - be careful, or watchful
Stand firm in the faith - remain focused on the things you're come to believe about Jesus & His provision for us
Be courageous - have some backbone, face your fears, face your giants
Be strong - don't be weak, live in the strength that is freely & constantly channeled from God thru His Holy Spirit into you
...do everything with love - here's the kicker: we gotta love people; that's how folks with distinguish us from everyone else in the world: by the quality of our love (which God channels through us)
My Life Application Bible suggests that we, in postmodern America, need to live like the Corinthians, as we anticipate the Lord's return.
