do what He tells you

1 John 2:27 But you have received the Holy Spirit, and he lives within you, so you don't need anyone to teach you what is true. For the Spirit teaches you everything you need to know, and what he teaches is true—it is not a lie. So just as he has taught you, remain in fellowship with Christ.

I know we could use this verse to justify being stubborn & arrogant, thinking we're all that.

Could it be that this verse is saying that in the final analysis, we have to listen to the Holy Spirit & what He tells us to be & do, rather than the gajillion things people tells us?

We seem to always have plenty of people around us (some who are strong Christ followers) who are willing to tell us what they think we should be or do.

But many times, what the Holy Spirit may be telling us is completely outside the "conventional wisdom" of the time.

Sometimes the Holy Spirit will lead us in directions that may not on the face of it make a whole lot of sense, but when we see the overarching scheme of things (which sometimes won't be until we get to heaven), we see the sense of it all, & how it worked into the plan He has for us & all humankind.
