temples

Our bodies are the temple for the Holy Spirit.

And if so, how then should we live?

Think about that as you read these different versions of these 2 verses, written by Paul to the followers of Jesus in Corinth.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20

Don't you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit,

who lives in you

and was given to you by God?

You do not belong to yourself,

for God bought you with a high price.

So you must honor God with your body. (NLT)

Have you forgotten that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit,

who lives in you,

and that you are not the owner of your own body?

You have been bought,

and at what a price!

Therefore bring glory to God both in your body and your spirit,

for they both belong to him. (J B Phillips)

Or didn’t you realize that your body is a sacred place,

the place of the Holy Spirit?

Don’t you see that you can’t live however you please,

squandering what God paid such a high price for?

The physical part of you is not some piece of property belonging to the spiritual part of you.

God owns the whole works.

So let people see God in and through your body. (The Message)

Don’t you know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit

who comes from God

and dwells inside of you?

You do not own yourself.

You have been purchased at a great price,

so use your body to bring glory to God! (The Voice)
