nearness

Right before I woke up this morning, I was dreaming I was directing a choir singing this song. They'd only sung the 1st verse & were ready to sing the chorus when I work up to get up & read.

It's a hymn / gospel song that's been around for a long while.

unfortunately, I couldn't find the choir I remember singing it on a tape my roommate at college had (yeah, that long ago!). The only ones I could find on YouTube were uber-hokie.

this may be just for me this morning - maybe it's for someone else, too

anyway, here's what I kept thinking about this song as I read this a.m...

sometimes our faith is greatest when we don't feel it

My Lord Is Near Me All The Time - Words and Music: Barbara Fowler Gaultney Copyright 1967

In the lightning flash across the sky
His mighty pow’r I see,
And I know if He can reign on high,
His light can shine on me.

I’ve seen it in the lightning, heard it in the thunder,
And felt it in the rain;
My Lord is near me all the time,
My Lord is near me all the time.

When the thunder shakes the mighty hills
And trembles ev’ry tree,
Then I know a God so great and strong
Can surely harbor me.

I’ve seen it in the lightning, heard it in the thunder,
And felt it in the rain;
My Lord is near me all the time,
My Lord is near me all the time.

When refreshing showers cool the earth
And sweep across the sea,
Then His rainbow shines within my heart,
His nearness comforts me.

I’ve seen it in the lightning, heard it in the thunder,
And felt it in the rain;
My Lord is near me all the time,
My Lord is near me all the time.
