not forgotten

Many people feel overlooked,

forgotten,

ignored,

on the shelf,

or relegated to a backwater somewhere.

But the writer of Hebrews says otherwise.

For who need to hear they're not forgotten, I offer these 3 verses.

Here's a few different translations of words – it's always interesting the subtleties of translations.

Btw, I used BibleGateway.com to access these different translations. It's a good website. If you haven't been there, go check it out.

Hebrews 6:10-12

For God is not unjust.

He will not forget how hard you have worked for him

and how you have shown your love to him by caring for other believers,

as you still do.

Our great desire is that you will keep on loving others as long as life lasts,

in order to make certain that what you hope for will come true.

Then you will not become spiritually dull and indifferent.

Instead, you will follow the example of those who are going to inherit God’s promises

because of their faith and endurance. (NLT)

For God is not unjust so as to forget your work

and the love which you have shown for His name

in ministering to [the needs of] the saints (God’s people),

as you do.

And we desire for each one of you to show the same diligence [all the way through]

so as to realize and enjoy the full assurance of hope until the end,

so that you will not be [spiritually] sluggish,

but [will instead be] imitators of those who through faith [lean on God with absolute trust and confidence in Him and in His power]

and by patient endurance [even when suffering] are [now] inheriting the promises. (Amplified)

God is fair,

and he will remember all the work you have done.

He will remember that you showed your love to him by helping his people

and that you continue to help them.

We want each of you to be willing and eager to show your love like that the rest of your life.

Then you will be sure to get what you hope for.

We don’t want you to be lazy.

We want you to be like those who, because of their faith and patience, will get what God has promised. (ERV)

For God is not unjust so as to overlook your work

and the love that you have shown for his name in serving the saints,

as you still do.

And we desire each one of you to show the same earnestness to have the full assurance of hope until the end,

so that you may not be sluggish,

but imitators of those who through faith and patience inherit the promises. (ESV)

God is not unfair:

he will not lose sight of all that you have done

nor of the loving labour which you have shown for his sake in looking after fellow-Christians

(as you are still doing).

It is our earnest wish that every one of you should show a similar keenness in fully grasping the hope that is within you.

We do not want any of you to grow slack,

but to follow the example of those who through sheer patient faith came to possess the promises. (JB Phillips)

God doesn’t miss anything.

He knows perfectly well all the love you’ve shown him by helping needy Christians,

and that you keep at it.

And now I want each of you to extend that same intensity toward a full-bodied hope,

and keep at it till the finish.

Don’t drag your feet.

Be like those who stay the course with committed faith

and then get everything promised to them. (The Message)

God is not unjust;

he will not forget your work

and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people

and continue to help them.

We want each of you to show this same diligence to the very end,

so that what you hope for may be fully realized.

We do not want you to become lazy,

but to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised. (NIV)

God is not unjust or unfair.

He won’t overlook the work you have done

or the love you have carried to each other in His name while doing His work,

as you are still doing.

We want you all to continue working until the end

so that you’ll realize the certainty that comes with hope

and not grow lazy.

We want you to walk in the footsteps of the faithful who came before you,

from whom you can learn to be steadfast in pursuing the promises of God. (The Voice)
