who do we trust

John 2

23 Because of the miraculous signs Jesus did in Jerusalem at the Passover celebration, many began to trust in him.

24 But Jesus didn't trust them,

because he knew human nature.

25 No one needed to tell him what human kind is really like.

So, does this mean that we shouldn't trust people?

I think it means that the only one we can really, completely trust is God,

because He is the only One who is infinite,

or perfect,

omnipotent,

blindingly holy,

omniscient,

& the very essence of love.

THAT is Someone anyone can completely & utterly trust.

I think it's okay to trust some people who have earned our trust,

but we should keep in mind that EVERYONE is imperfect,

sinful,

capable of all kinds of things.

Jesus knew what people REALLY thought about Him & the ways of God.

And so He didn't give them complete free reign in his life

because He knew who the were...

the person we really are when no one is around.

So what then should we do?

Love them.

Serve them.

Share Jesus' love & identity with them.

But always realize that the only One we can completely trust ourselves to is

God, the Father,

God the Son,

God, the Holy Spirit.

All other allegiances will someday faill us, or simply fall away.

(I hope all that made sense – I'm REALLY sleepy this morning. ;-) LOL)
