4 words

Matthew 22

34 But when the Pharisees heard that he had silenced the Sadducees with his reply, they met together to question him again.

35 One of them, an expert in religious law, tried to trap him with this question:

36 "Teacher, which is the most important commandment in the law of Moses?"

37 Jesus replied, "'You must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.'

38 This is the first and greatest commandment.

39 A second is equally important:

'Love your neighbor as yourself.'

40 The entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments."

How many of us have heard great theologians, preachers, thinkers, or anyone who thinks they know everything there is to know about anything wax eloquently about "the essence of the gospel."?

How many of us have read countless books about how to live a life as a follower of Jesus?

Maybe we're overthinking this whole thing?

Here in this short passage - 6 verses - Jesus sums it all up.

And we can sum up what He said, too.

So here's the deal, here's what Jesus basically said...

Love God.

Love people.

Yep, 4 words...

Love God. Love people.

So, let's be about what  Jesus said - loving God, loving people - and perhaps the rest of our lives will fall more into place.
