fatherly instructions

Paul considered Timothy his son, even though Timothy was not biologically Paul's son.

(I know what that's like. I have a few children that I've "come by". ;-) )

And in this letter of Paul's to Timothy, Paul speaks to him as a father would to his son, telling him some things Timothy should be or do to be a good Christ follower.

Perhaps, like Timothy, we ought to read & heed these instructions of Paul...

1 Timothy 6

10a For the love of money is at the root of all kinds of evil.

11 But you, Timothy, are a man of God;

        so run from all these evil things.

        Pursue righteousness

        and a godly life,

        along with faith,

        love,

        perseverance,

        and gentleness.

12a Fight the good fight for the true faith.

Hold tightly to the eternal life to which God has called you...

20a ...guard what God has entrusted to you...
