2 verses, many translations

I've got 2 verses this morning. I thought I'd give you a few translations of both & let you interpret their impact on you.

********

Proverbs 19:17

Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord,

and he will reward them for what they have done. (NIV) (I like this translation of this verse the best.)

Giving help to the poor is like loaning money to the Lord.

He will pay you back for your kindness. (ERV)

He who has pity on the poor lends to the Lord,

and that which he has given He will repay to him. (Amplified)

Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the Lord,

and he will repay him for his deed. (ESV)

Whoever cares for the poor makes a loan to the Eternal;

such kindness will be repaid in full and with interest. (The Voice)

Mercy to the needy is a loan to God,

and God pays back those loans in full. (The Message)

********

Proverbs 19:21

You can make many plans,

but the Lord’s purpose will prevail. (NLT) (I like this translation best.)

Many are the plans in a person’s heart,

but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails. (NIV)

Many plans are in a man’s mind,

but it is the Lord’s purpose for him that will stand. (Amplified)

People might make many plans,

but what the Lord says is what will happen. (ERV)

Many are the plans in the mind of a man,

but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand. (ESV)

We humans keep brainstorming options and plans,

but God’s purpose prevails. (The Message)

The impulses of the human heart may run wild,

but the Eternal’s plan will prevail. (The Voice)
