for such a time as this

Hebrews 11:8 It was by faith that Abraham obeyed when God called him to leave home and go to another land that God would give him as his inheritance. He went without knowing where he was going. 9 And even when he reached the land God promised him, he lived there by faith—for he was like a foreigner, living in tents.

Abraham picked up his wife & family, & his whole household, & set out on a journey he thought God had told him to take - he didn't know where he was going, or when they'd arrive. That took INCREDIBLE faith.

And here's the kicker - just one sentence from the footnote about these verses in my Life Application Bible...

"Do not be surprised if God asks you to give up secure, familiar surroundings in order to carry out his will."

Oh boy...

One more thing...

Esther 4:13
Mordecai sent this reply to Esther: “Don’t think for a moment that because you’re in the palace you will escape when all other Jews are killed. 14 If you keep quiet at a time like this, deliverance and relief for the Jews will arise from some other place, but you and your relatives will die. Who knows if perhaps you were made queen for just such a time as this?”

I never noticed until today that Mordecai told Esther that if she didn't take up the job of rescuing the Jews from the death degree from the king, then someone else would be asked to do it.

If we don't do what God calls us to do, He'll simply get someone else to do it. All of us were created to be & do some things in the overarching will of God for humankind. Sometimes if we don't do them, they don't get done. And sometimes, God will just get someone more willing to obey Him to do it.

And we, like Esther, may be who we are & where we are to be the pivotal component in God's will for someone, or something.
